Consumer trends change throughout the year: at each season, varying recipes… This rule of thumb holds true for all sectors and more particularly for the teas and infusions market.

Create your teas and infusions based on the season...

It’s a fact that consumers like new items and especially limited editions, based on themes which change depending on the calendar.

In the spring it’s a question of discovering fresh and tangy flavours and in the winter it’s a question of heating up the body before winter and why not help the body to strengthen its immunity and vitality by taking in lots of nutrients.

The consumer is demanding and aware and seeks plant resources which respect nature’s cycle and seasons. It’s up to the brands to adapt to the changes and respond to changing consumer expectations. So, let the seasons bring you inspirations! Find out how supply chain marketing can help you.

Discover autumn flavours for your teas and infusions:

Enriched in antioxidants and other essential nutrients, plants are autumn allies used to help to boost the body before winter and strengthen immunity to fight off the first cold weather of the season…

To inspire you, here are some suggestions of autumn plants:

  • Let’s start with thyme: an excellent antiseptic and an essential autumn plant! On its own, it evokes the sun. It heats up the body and overwhelms the taste buds with its aromas while accompanying us in times of fatigue or chills.

  • The fresh and sweet flavour of eucalyptus is comforting, and this plant is a valuable aid against respiratory infections.

  • Echinacea purpurea has a slightly sweet, spicy and bitter taste to liven up your infusion and should be blended with other flavours to make an efficient and pleasant health infusion.

  • Elderberry flowers will delicately add fragrance to your herbal teas while offering well-known antiviral properties.

  • Acerola provides energy and vitality with its tangy flavour and can be used in pieces, in bulk mixtures or finely cut in traditional tea bags.

  • Ginseng is also very interesting during this season: white ginseng has a flavour which resembles licorice while red ginseng has a rather bitter flavour. Its anti-fatigue properties are ideal at this time of the year.

  • Then think of the finesse of crunchy pieces of fruit, as they will arouse the consumer’s sweet tooth. These very noble materials are perfectly adapted to premium bulk blends where the visual pleasure will predominate and will play a very important role during tastings. Their surprising colours embellish the fine blend of leaves, bark and roots.

And finally, to add a touch of mystery to your decoction, think of giving preference to new terroirs.

The flavours of plants vary depending on the geographical origins of the supplies and these flavours provide original notes to the distinguishing beverage in the tea cup.  You can spice up your creation by adding a touch of cinnamon from Vietnam or a spicy touch of ginger from Nigeria…
