We all appreciate the unique and fresh flavour and to prove that, Nanah mint is one of the flavours consumers like the most. It can be found everywhere: in our toothpaste, sweets, teas and infusions [4], etc… But it is all too often forgotten that this plant with its intense and refreshing taste has a large range of active compounds with exceptional virtues. In this article, we will uncover the properties of this remarkable raw material and we will reveal the new organic 100% French sourcing…

A cure all remedy?

If you had to choose just one natural remedy, wouldn’t it make sense to select mint? Used mainly as a condiment, it has mainly virtues. [4]

Its outstanding combination of phenolic acids, flavonoids, carvone and absorbic acid provide mint with carminative, digestive, antispasmodic, circulatory, antimigraine, soothing, pain relieving, muscle toning, antiseptic, antioxidant and aphrodisiac properties… [1] [2] [3] [4]. Mint is traditionally used to treat fever, headaches and digestive problems [1] (anti-nausea, bad breath, aerophagia) and helps with dental health and even immunity [4]...

All these qualities make this an essential ingredient backed by health claims for all your infusions!

This global trend is geared towards returning to the roots and natural and authentic solutions, so the world mint market should grow significantly [4] in the next coming years.

Organic and French sourcing

While this species is a surprising raw material, we are regularly warned about the significant presence of pesticides in mint sold in industrial channels [5]. That’s why Natural Origins carefully choses producers while selecting exclusively organic product references.

In addition to organic Nanah mint which comes from Morocco, we have developed a premium « Made in France » organic ingredients product range in collaboration with a cooperative made up of 10 producers based in the Ardeche region.

Producers in this cooperative work using traditional methods which respect the plant and are environmentally friendly. Most of the raw materials are wild with low input and are handpicked and the harvesting and weeding are done by hand in order to protect the biodiversity. The crop plants come from plants directly produced by the farmers and are grown on small land plots in due respect with the configuration of the land.

We offer standard quality for raw materials coming from Morocco and PREMIUM quality for French origin (Ardeche) products.

Our Ardeche producers use approximately 5,000 m² for the species Mentha spicata var. nanah, which allows us to be able to offer small volumes of high-quality products. In this region, the first harvest is in June and the second in August/September when the plant starts to blossom. Orders are generally made in the beginning of the year, but you can contact us now to find out more about our ingredients.

In the forthcoming article, you’ll discover other LOCAL AND ORGANIC references coming from this French local producers’ cooperative.
